Missing McHenry-area man found dead; foul play not suspected
A 95-year-old McHenry-area man reported missing and endangered Friday night was found dead Saturday near his home, authorities said.
Stanley E. Szczesny was last seen at about 3:30 a.m. Friday in the 2500 block of Scheid Lane, east of Holiday Hills and north of Island Lake, according to an alert released early Saturday morning. He was reported missing about 9 p.m. Friday.
McHenry County sheriff's police said later that Szczesny's body was located about 2:20 p.m. Saturday during a search in the area of 2400 S. River Road.
No foul play is suspected and the McHenry County coroner's office has assumed jurisdiction over the deceased and additional forensic testing may follow, the sheriff's office said.
Along with the sheriff's office, search and rescue teams from the McHenry County Emergency Management Agency, Kane County, Will County, Kendall County, Hanover Township, Palatine and KIWIS K9 search team were involved in the search for Szczesny.
