Village president dividing community

I would like to say I am surprised by the offensive rant of Craig Johnson at the last Elk Grove Village Board meeting but unfortunately I'm not. He always needs a boogeyman from outside the Village to try and scare the people of the community so he can stay in office.

Making claims about people with no supporting evidence, or proof, just his feelings, is wrong. Name calling, charging fake news and lies of those people that disagree with him, who does that sound like?

But what is most disheartening is the fact that Johnson is trying to stop the people of the community from actually voting on an issue that has been proposed for this upcoming election. He wants an initiative for term limits to be removed from the ballot, thus removing the right of the citizens of the community to vote on this issue. For or against it, the people have a right to have their voices heard.

Voting is the most cherished thing for citizens and no one should try and take that away from them, voter suppression at its finest. Where is the maturity and leadership? He is creating an atmosphere of hate and disagreement on an issue that is tearing at the very fabric of the community, pitting neighbor against neighbor. Unite the community not divide it.

He is right that this is sad and sick, but it is he who is creating the sadness of hate and the sickness of power. What a disgrace.

If the vote is yes or no, this is a matter for the people to decide and not him. Stop the immature rhetoric, and let the people vote, and then the community will get back to helping and caring for our fellow neighbors.
