Comments had merit

Recently Rush Limbaugh said regarding Democratic voters, "Despite all the great work and despite all the great ground that's been covered, America's (voters) still are not ready to elect a gay guy kissing his husband on the debate stage president."

He of course was bashed by Democrats and Republicans for his comments, which I believe is unfair (of course they also know they would be committing political suicide if they had not). For me and many other Americans, the guy was giving an opinion (e.g., not a hate speech) which he has every right to give and which whether the world likes it or not has a great deal of merit. Many, many Americans believe homosexuality is a sin and whether they are willing to accept a person in their everyday life still brings a question are they also willing to make a vote for a person running for president who is living such a lifestyle and remind you of that lifestyle after every debate?

It is common place to question a candidate's opinion on abortion before casting a vote and we all know how that issue has divided this country. What makes one think a person's sexual preference would suddenly be overlooked?
