Next Des Plaines Citizen's Police Academy begins March 24

The Des Plaines Police Department will kick off its first Citizen's Police Academy of the new year on Tuesday, March 24.

The academy is a popular 10-week program that provides participants insights to the many facets of the department's operations and specialized units, including the detective bureau, forensics team and other divisions that play an important role in solving and preventing crime.

Over the course of the program, participants will also experience live, scenario-based exercises that provide an opportunity for hands-on participation and learning.

Meetings will take place starting from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday March 24. at the police department, 1418 Miner St.

Participants must be 21 years of age and agree to a general background check. Spaces are limited and preference will be given to Des Plaines residents on a first-come, first-served basis.
