Libertyville announces its new fine arts initiative

The David Adler Music and Arts Center and Libertyville Arts Commission have announced a new community initiative to strengthen and grow local arts programming.

Village President Terry Weppler proclaimed Libertyville Community pARTners an annual initiative for Libertyville at the village board meeting Tuesday, Feb. 11.

The Libertyville Community pARTners program - a group of business sponsors, individuals and community arts organizations - will support artistic offerings and educational opportunities in Libertyville.

"Engaging in the arts brings individuals together; it fosters community," Weppler said. "Arts and artists aren't only in museums or concert halls, they are all around us."

The Community pARTners initiative aims to celebrate the creative spirit of Libertyville's residents while growing community support for its burgeoning local arts scene.

Community pARTners will plan and promote time-honored local events, like the annual Festival of the Arts in Cook Park, Village Band concerts, Wrapped in Art Yarnstorm, the Cook Park Drum Circles, the Moveable Mural, and the free gallery series at the Adler Center, Libertyville's only community arts center.

The collective will also promote arts education programming through artist-in-residency programs at local schools and through community classes. An online pARTners arts calendar will give the community a go-to place to find local live music, exhibitions and performances.

"To have the opportunity to partner with the village and the Arts Commission and create an initiative to allow our community to foster arts education for all is really something worth celebrating," Adler Center Executive Director Amy Williams said.

BankFinancial, Baird & Warner and Consumers Co-Op Credit Union have joined the Libertyville Community Partners initiative as Visionary sponsors, along with other businesses at Leader and Advocate levels.
