Invest in education of youngest children

Everyone talks about free college as if it's the silver bullet to all the world's problems. As I see it, the university system is a corrupt set of institutions bent on indoctrinating our students, saddling our youth with unimaginable levels of debt and squandering exorbitant tuition on administration officials' paychecks and lofty technology instead of investing in our professors and students.

Colleges need major reform. In order to do this, we must start at the foundational level of our education system. Therefore, America ought to invest in education where it matters: at the beginning.

The federal government should invest $100 billion in Title 1 schools. Teaching supplies, textbooks, after-school programs, school lunches, mental health services, bringing parents into the process, recess and time to build bonds with fellow classmates and access to positive influences inside and outside the classroom are all elements that can make our education system great again.

We cannot turn our backs on children. We must turn the tide on the trend of giving up on America's most vulnerable because when you are at the bottom, you have the biggest drive to reach the top. A legislative package focusing on young students, with prodigious potential, can provide them the opportunities to apply their intellect and heart into the dreams of their future.

Title 1 schools will help our least-advantaged American children learn and grow. Once they have the resources they need, there is nothing our children cannot accomplish. Pass a bill to invest in our children now.
