Miller Resource Group celebrates 50th anniversary

Few recruitment firms in business today can boast of a 50-year history. Since the aftermath of World War II when the industry surfaced, dramatic and ongoing changes in technology, demographics and the needs of companies and candidates have continually disrupted operations.

So when the Miller Resource Group in Lombard hit their landmark year, they stepped back and took stock of their own evolution over five decades as well as the evolution of the industry.

Under the leadership of President Gary Miller for 40 of those years - in itself a noteworthy achievement - the firm has grown to become a powerhouse in the food & beverage and industrial automation sectors.

Miller was just out of college in 1977 when he signed on as a recruiter with the company, then known as Sales Consultants of Oak Brook. He viewed the job as a place to start his career, but instead fell in love with the business, saw its potential and never looked back. In 1986 he bought the business, which has grown and thrived ever since.

"We have seen huge workplace changes over the years, and our ability to anticipate and react to these critical changes is largely responsible for our longevity," Miller believes. "We are attuned to the trends that are shaping worker behaviors and the evolution of the industries we serve. We've helped grow firms by getting them the right leaders, and some of those firms transform industries. We've also guided thousands of candidates to careers that have flourished by placing them in the optimum organization. It's been, and continues to be, a fascinating learning experience."

Miller, who lives in Naperville, is taking the opportunity to celebrate the anniversary by giving back to the community.

He plans to make a donation for every placement his firm makes this year to Naperville Responds for Veterans, which assists veterans and their families in need by raising donations of money, building materials and professional labor and coordinating the process of repairing, building and donating homes.

An affiliate of MRINetwork, one of the world's largest search and recruitment organizations in operation since 1965, the Miller Resource Group has access to a wealth of resources and a global network. "Gary is representative of our company's best," says Bert Miller, president of MRINetwork. "The integrity and professionalism of people like Gary are among the reasons that MRINetwork and the Miller Resource Group have flourished for so many years - and will continue to do so for decades to come."
