Gibson hired as Lake County administrator

The Lake County Board on Tuesday voted to hire Gary Gibson as the county administrator.

The board approved a two-year contract that starts Wednesday and will net Gibson a $225,000 starting annual salary.

Gibson, of Lake Bluff, had been serving as interim administrator since September.

He earned a $210,473 annual salary as interim administrator.

Gibson's predecessor as administrator, Bill Panos, quit after only two months to take a state job in North Dakota.

After the board's vote and a standing ovation, Gibson said he was “honored and humbled beyond belief.”
