5,000 will pack food for kids via Feed the Need! ™ MobilePack™ event

More than 6,200 children die every day from hunger and malnourished related illnesses. The Feed the Need!™ MobilePack™ and the Christian nonprofit, Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), are "turning hunger into hope" through the annual Feed My Starving Children Feed the Need! MobilePack event Feb. 15-16 at North Central College in Naperville.

In just 36 hours, more than 5,000 volunteers will pack more than 1 million FMSC meals that are scientifically developed to supplement nutritional needs and reduce problems with malnutrition. Missions and humanitarian organizations will then distribute these meals to children in 70 countries.

"This event allows people from age 5-95 to make an impact. In 90 minutes they can pack food and walk out feeling good and knowing that their donation of meals and time helped save children's lives," said Bob Huebner, co-founder of Feed the Need! MobilePack.

North Central College is the 6th-year host for the MobilePack, which is a coalition of DuPage, Will and Kane area churches, civic organizations, local businesses, schools, community groups and individuals who rally around the effort to help save children. As the event's premier sponsor, Gerald Subaru of Naperville, has already helped start the packing weekend off right by donating 150,000 meals to the event.

"We are proud of the neighbors, surrounding counties and businesses stepping up to help," said Huebner. "We couldn't do it without their support."

Three packing sessions are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at North Central College's Res/Rec Center, 400 S. Brainard St. Volunteers can sign up for 90-minute time slot at give.fmsc.org/feedtheneed. Saturday packing times begin at noon, 3:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday sessions begin 9 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Individuals can also donate to FMSC to further their mission of seeing every child whole in body and spirit. To help combat hunger in local communities, Feed the Need! is asking volunteers to bring nonperishable food items with them to help restock the Loaves & Fishes pantry in Naperville.

Since Feed the Need! began in 2011, volunteers have packed a total of 6.7 million meals. Through MobilePack events across America and food packed at FMSC locations, FMSC is on track to provide 370 million meals to children in 2020.
