Super 'sleazefest'

Shame, shame, shame on the NFL, FOX and PepsiCo for the debauched sleaze fest "pimped" to the public as the Super Bowl halftime show.

Appropriate that the Super Bowl is now a 50-something event and that its age is expressed in Latinized Roman Numerals (LIV).

The featured performers were two aging Latina song and dance divas, one a quinquagenarian, whose hips and thighs might be described with a term befitting raucous ovation: "thunderous."

The two were clad in pruriently teasing, see-through costumes which held fewer "secrets" than Victoria. Their performances were amalgams of sexually provocative bumps and grinds and brazen "come-on" promiscuity.

The two offered sexually suggestive pole-dancing and sexual-bondage-themed dance routines. Was this a show suitable for family audiences gathered at the stadium and around TV sets across the world - or something best sequestered to carnival "girlie" shows and Larry Flynt Hustler clubs?

The perpetrators (the NFL, FOX and PepsiCo) of this descent into indecency should have warned the viewing public and posted at least a PG-13 (if not R) rating. Was this behavior to which parents and grandparents would want their young children and grandchildren exposed? Would they want their young daughters and granddaughters mimicking the serpentine sexuality of the two narcissistic, morally dissolute sirens attempting to recapture past glory?

Finally and most unforgivably, part of the dance entourage was a dance-line of young (apparently preteen) girls in glitzy costumes miming the motions of the featured depraved duo. For the divas, the NFL, FOX and PepsiCo a reminder from scripture (Mat-thew 18:6): "If anyone causes one of these little ones - those who believe in me - to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea."
