Men's basketball
Moraine Valley 85, Lake County 82: On Thursday night, the College of Lake County fell short on the road against the 11th-ranked Cyclones, despite Jarod Stonis' 23 points, 10 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists.
The Lancers were without Jaylin Cunningham, the team's second-leading rebound, and Christos Gountanis, who is the team's leading 3-point shooter by percentage. CLC made 10 3-pointers.
"It came down to rebounding and making shots," Lancers assistant coach Andy Rochon said. "We had to make 1 or 2 more 3s and needed to hold [Moraine Valley] below their offensive rebounding average."
Aaron Greer added 18 points and 5 rebounds for CLC. Darien Bosby scored 16 points, and Anthony Thompson had 14.
"Even though [we] were outmatched at each position, this team never quits," Rochon said.
The Lancers are back on the road against Kankakee at 3 p.m. Saturday. CLC's next home game is against McHenry on Tuesday (7:15 p.m.).
