President of French soccer club questioned by police

ANGERS, France (AP) - The president of French soccer club Angers was questioned by police Wednesday about allegations he sexually assaulted an employee.

SaÃ¯d Chabane was taken into custody after prosecutors opened an investigation based on an employee's complaint, the club said in a statement.

'œSaÃ¯d Chabane formally contests all the allegations brought against him,'ť the club said, adding that Chabane met with police early Wednesday to answer a summons sent in late January.

French broadcaster RMC reported the preliminary investigation related to complaints filed by three people.

The club president 'œis confident in the outcome of the investigation in which he fully cooperates,'ť Angers said.

Chabane, a businessman in the food industry, became club president in 2011. Angers returned to the top division in French soccer four years later.

The team from northwest France is currently in 13th place in the 20-team league.
