Sheriff: Round Lake Beach man illegally sold stolen guns

A Round Lake Beach man faces multiple weapons-related felony charges after his arrest Tuesday culminated a lengthy investigation into illegal gun sales, authorities said Wednesday.

Marcus A. Hudson, 24, of the 200 block of Woodland Drive, is charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and two counts of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon stemming from the investigation by Lake County Sheriff's Special Investigations Group, officials said.

Hudson, a documented street gang member according to the sheriff's office, was witnessed by detectives selling a semi-automatic pistol which was later determined to have been stolen in an Ingleside burglary, authorities said.

He sold a firearm that had been stolen during a burglary in McHenry, sheriff's police said.

"Firearms in the wrong hands often ends in tragedies," Sheriff John Idleburg said in an announcement of the arrest. "I am very proud of the investigative work and collaboration between our Special Investigations Group, (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives), and the other law-enforcement agencies involved in this investigation."

Hudson is scheduled to appear in a Lake County courtroom later today.
