Buffalo Grove receives APWA Project of the Year award

Buffalo Grove recently received a Project of the Year award from the American Public Works Association's Chicago Metro Chapter, Lake Branch, for its Buffalo Creek Streambank Restoration.

The project. which utilized structural and biotechnical systems to improve the natural habitat and water quality in Buffalo Creek, received the association's Project of the Year - Environment (less than $5 million) award

Two village public works department employees also were honored.

Civil Engineer II Kyle Johnson received the Myron Calkins Young Leader of the Year Award for his commitment to the profession. Johnson has worked for the village since 2014 and has been in the public works industry for 11 years.

Purchasing Manager Brett Robinson, who has been an employee of the village since June 1986, received the Samuel A. Greeley Award, which recognizes individuals who have served 30 or more years at a local public agency.
