Lake Park's Rogers earns MVP honor

Darrione Rogers of Lake Park is this week's Daily Herald MVP for girls basketball.

Darrione Rogers, Lake Park: The 5-foot-11 senior averaged 21.7 points a game in three wins and helped the Lancers take sole possession of first place in the DuKane Conference. She also topped the 1,900-point mark and surpassed Kelly Miller for second on the school's all-time scoring list.

Morgan Frank, Mundelein: Before scoring her 1,500th point this week, the senior forward showed again how she can take over a game and carry her team to victory. She scored a career-high 32 points - 1 more than she had earlier this season - as the Mustangs outlasted host Waukegan 63-55 in overtime. The Colgate commit made two 3-pointers and also had 10 rebounds, 6 blocks, 6 steals and 3 assists.

Maddy Martin, Harvest Christian: This senior guard scored at least 24 points in four straight games, starting with 24 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals vs. Mooseheart. She followed with 25 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists against Alden-Hebron, had 28 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals vs. Christian Liberty, and totaled 32 points and 14 rebounds in a win over South Beloit on Harvest's Senior Night.

Talia Torosian, Schaumburg: The Schaumburg senior guard began the week with a team-high 15 points to help lead a 4-18 win over Hoffman Estates. Then she caps the week with a dramatic game-winning 3-pointer just before the overtime buzzer to give Schaumburg a 46-43 win over Palatine.
