Police academy for Mundelein residents will start Feb. 11

The next session of the Mundelein Citizens Police Academy begins Tuesday, Feb. 11, and there's still time to register.

The academy is a 10-week program that gives citizens who live or work in or near Mundelein a chance to become familiar with the day-to-day operations of the police department, as well as gain a greater awareness of the daily challenges faced by its officers.

Classes will be a combination of lectures and interactive activities led by many police department divisions, with topics such as special operations, 911 communications, firearm use and safety, crime prevention, and crime scene investigations.

Classes are held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, at the Mundelein Police Department, 221 N. Lake St.
