Alternatives exist to protect the unborn

Wednesday, Jan. 22, was the 47th anniversary of the legalization of abortion in the United States. Since that 1973 decision, over 60 million innocent children have lost their lives. Every January, thousands of Americans participate in the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. (This year on Friday, Jan. 24). This event gives public witness to the fact that most Americans want to see unborn children protected.

Women today should not support or take action that would terminate the life of an unborn child even if the civil law allows it, even if people claim it as their right. There are abortion alternatives and many pro-life agencies so willing to help you through an unplanned pregnancy.

Pro-life people will pray and challenge civil laws when they are detrimental to life. Life is sacred because it comes from God, belongs to God and returns to God.

Bless all those who marched this year for life and the many more who labor for life in their own communities every day. May all unborn children be protected in law and welcomed in love.
