Libertyville wraps up NSC title

The Libertyville wrestling team wrapped up the North Suburban Conference championship with a 59-15 win over visiting Zion-Benton Friday night, finishing the conference schedule 7-0.

Scoring pins for the Wildcats were Caelan Riley (106 pounds), Trevor Jean (113), E'lan Heard (152), and Caleb Christensen (285).

Adam Pressley (195) and Jordan Smith (220 had major decisions. Chase Baczek (170) had a 3-0 decision over Jordan Chisum, last year's sixth-place state wrestler.

Zion-Benton surrendered forfeits to Thomas McGormley (126), Danny Pucino (138), Josh Knudten (160), and Dane Whitney (182).

Libertyville finished the regular season with a 19-3 overall record. The Wildcats will compete in the Class 3A Grant regional next Saturday.
