All parties share in the responsibility for life

In response to the ad "RIGHT TO LIFE" appearing in the Jan. 20 issue of the Herald, the following comment: More people than just the mother must be responsible for the child. Abortions can be prohibited if the father and/or the government will financially adequately support the child.

To expect the mother to bear the total burden of child carrying, birth, rearing and expense is wrong. The government should pay the total cost if necessary and then collect from the father.

Timely abortions should be allowed for rape and incest and to protect the health of the mother.

The partners involved are responsible for whether or not pregnancy occurs. They have to be very careful and serious, not frivolous and selfish about the possibility of creating human life.

Emotion is wonderful, but has to be tempered with what to do about the possibility of creating life.
