Second round of air testing complete

The second phase of outdoor air monitoring for ethylene oxide (ETO) near Vantage Specialty Chemicals in Gurnee and Medline Industries in Waukegan has been completed. Monitoring began Oct. 26 and ended Jan. 22. Final results, expected in mid-February, will be posted at www.lakecountyil.gov/eto. More than 350 samples were collected from 12 locations on 30 sampling days, including 14 days during the temporary shutdown of ETO operations at Medline. When the third phase is completed, the monitoring program will include an estimated total of 600 samples collected on 54 sampling days during a 150-day period. Questions?
