Former Rosemont resident back in U.S. to face child porn charges

A former Rosemont resident has pleaded not guilty to a bevy of child pornography charges after being on the lam for years.

Marcos German Mendez, 32, is charged with using a minor to produce child pornography, transporting child pornography and possession of child pornography, stemming from an investigation that began four years ago.

Mendez was originally indicted in 2016 but fled to Mexico, prosecutors said.

He was arrested in León, Guanajuato, Mexico in July 2019 and recently extradited to the U.S. to face charges. He appeared in court Thursday for an initial appearance. His next court date is slated for Feb. 3.
