Geneva Super Shuffle 5K to mark 10th anniversary

The Geneva Park District's annual Super Shuffle 5K is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2020. The run began in 2011 as a unique event that encouraged people to be active before the Super Bowl.

The run was also designed as a way to support the Geneva Park District Scholarship Fund, which provides recreational opportunities to the community. In honor of the 10th anniversary, the first 250 people to sign up will receive a free knit beanie hat.

The 10th annual Super Shuffle 5K will be held on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 2, at Geneva Middle School South, 1415 Viking Drive, Geneva. This event happens snow or shine. On-site registration and check-in are from 9-9:45 a.m. The race begins at 10 a.m.

Immediately following the race, stop by the Stephen D. Persinger Recreation Centre gym from 10 a.m. to noon for the Game Day Party. SPRC is at 3507 Kaneville Road in Geneva. Enjoy games, refreshing beverages, game day food and more.

Race participants will receive a participation medal and a free beverage/food ticket for use at the Game Day Party. Additional food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Awards will be given to the overall top female and male finishers, and the top female and male in each age category: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-65, 66 and older.

Early registration by Jan. 19 is $35; $40 after Jan. 19. A "race only" option is $20.
