The Barrington Cultural Commission is gearing up for its eighth annual "Oscar Shorts" Film Festival, with three showings held at the Catlow Theater in downtown Barrington, which will open for this special event.

Tickets are currently on sale for the showings at noon and 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, with the final showing at noon Sunday, Feb. 9. The Oscar Shorts festival will feature the 10 Oscar-nominated short films in the animated and live action categories.

"Interest in the Oscar-nominated short films just continues to grow each year, and so many people have made it an annual tradition," said Jack Schaefer, a member of the Barrington Cultural Commission and organizer of the event.

"It's wonderful to partner with the Catlow Theater for the Oscar Shorts Film Festival. The Catlow is such an important institution in downtown Barrington, and this year we're offering an evening showing on Saturday night in addition to two showings at noon. The evening show should be a wonderful opportunity to have a great night out in Barrington and see 10 amazing Oscar short films."

Wine and beer will be available at the Catlow during the festival, as well as food selections from the adjacent Showtime Eatery and surrounding restaurants.

Tickets for the "Oscar Shorts" are currently on sale and may only be purchased online. Visit www.barrington-il.gov/oscars or call (847) 304-3406 for ticketing assistance. Proceeds benefit the Barrington Cultural Commission.
