Aurora man charged with smashing vehicle with baseball bat in Bartlett

Bartlett police Sunday arrested a 23-year-old Aurora man on charges of criminal damage to property, aggravated assault and disorderly conduct for allegedly smashing another motorist's vehicle with a baseball bat.

After a call for assistance and an investigation, police alleged that Carlos A. Gallegos of Aurora exited his 2009 Toyota on the 400 block of Mayflower Lane at about 9:45 a.m. Saturday and damaged the windshield, passenger's-side windows and passenger's-side mirror of a 2004 Mercury Sable while the 26-year-old female driver was sitting inside.

Police said Gallegos then got back into his vehicle and drove south toward Schick Road. He was taken into custody at his residence the following day and transported to the DuPage County jail to await a bail bond hearing.
