Birmingham Bowl resumes after 90-minute weather delay

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - The Birmingham Bowl has resumed after a weather delay of about 90 minutes.

The game between No. 23 Cincinnati and Boston College was suspended with 7:55 left in the first quarter on Thursday. The game was scoreless.

It was being played in rainy, cool weather throughout. Teams returned to the field for a 15-minute warmup before restarting the game . Boston College is familiar with postseason weather issues.

The Eagles were leading No. 23 Boise State 7-0 when the First Responder Bowl in Dallas was cancelled due to bad weather last season. That game was also in the first quarter.

It was believed to be the first bowl game called off because of weather. That time there remained a threat of severe weather after a delay of nearly 1 1/2 hours.
