District 15 hires about 100 substitute teachers

Palatine Township Elementary District 15 has hired roughly 100 new substitute teachers.

District 15 held several substitute training and licensure sessions in November and December, Superintendent Laurie Heinz said.

She said the new subs will allow the district to offer important professional development opportunities to full-time teachers.

In turn, the development sessions are expected to lead to improved teaching and learning in classrooms.

This year, she said, the training will focus on literacy, mathematics and culturally and linguistically responsive teaching.
