Scam calls appearing to come from police reported in St. Charles

St. Charles residents have reported scam calls appearing to come from the St. Charles Police Department, according to a tweet from the city of St. Charles.

The calls are part of a Social Security scam and display the caller ID of the police department, the tweet said. Anyone who receives a suspicious call should report it to St. Charles police at (630) 377-4435.

It's unclear how many calls have been reported or how long the scam has been happening.
