3 children reunited with dad after carjacker steals SUV

CHICAGO (AP) - Three children who were inside an SUV that was carjacked on Chicago's north side have been reunited with their father and were not injured, police said.

The 49-year-old father had left his Toyota Highlander running late Sunday near a pizza parlor with his two daughters, ages four and 16, and his 9-year-old son inside when the SUV was carjacked in the West Rogers Park neighborhood.

Police said two suspects drove up in a Toyota Camry next to the Highlander when the Camry's passenger got out, entered the Highlander and drove way with the children inside.

The carjacking suspect soon exited the SUV, got back in the Camry and both suspects then fled the scene.

Police said the children were unharmed and have been reunited with their father.

Officers who later spotted the Camry at a gas station took four people in that car into custody, while the driver fled the scene. Police said that charges were pending.
