The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce will host its "Spirit of Excellence" annual dinner and scholarship fundraiser Thursday, Jan. 16, at Avante Banquets and Conference Center, 1050 Northwest Hwy., Fox River Grove.

"The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce is one of the most vibrant, active and largest chambers in the region," said Suzanne Corr, Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce president/CEO.

"For over 50 years, we have been a driving force in the business community, creating events and opportunities that help our members and the community come together and prosper. Our annual dinner is a celebration of our members and our accomplishments. We make business happen."

The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce serves 11 regional communities: Barrington, Barrington Hills, Deer Park, Inverness, Kildeer, Lake Barrington, Long Grove, North Barrington, Port Barrington, South Barrington and Tower Lakes, and represents nearly 900 members.

Its publications and website are go-to resources for business and community information. The chamber offers more than 200 networking opportunities each year and manages large community events, such as the Family Expo, Uncork Barrington, Barrington Wine Walks, Barrington Area Economic Summit, Town Hall Forum and more.

Each year, the chamber fields more than 6,000 calls for local business and community information.

The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce's annual dinner and scholarship fundraiser attracts nearly 200 business, community and governmental leaders for a celebration of business and community achievements.

Tickets to the event are $50 per member; $65 per guest, and can be purchased online at www.BarringtonChamber.com.

During the event, new Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce board leadership will be sworn in and the annual Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce Business Awards will be announced.

The event also raises money through a live and silent auction for chamber grants and programs, as well as the Lauren Brown Memorial Scholarship fund.

The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce awarded eight scholarships to local high school students in 2019. The fund has provided thousands of dollars in scholarship monies to local students who go on to attend universities, community college or an accredited certification program that build future careers.

Premier sponsors of the annual dinner and scholarship fundraiser are Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital and Barrington Bank & Trust.
