Rolling Meadows extends red light cameras contract

Rolling Meadows has inked a five-year extension to its red light cameras contract, keeping the automated enforcement system in place at five intersections.

The agreement with Lombard-based RedSpeed Illinois was approved unanimously by the city council Tuesday night. City officials said since implemented in 2007, the cameras have helped reduce crashes at intersections.

The intersections with cameras are: Kirchoff Road and Plum Grove Road (westbound and northbound), Algonquin Road and the Route 53 exit ramp (southbound and westbound), Euclid Avenue and Hicks Road (southbound), Kirchoff Road and Rohlwing Road (southbound and westbound), and Algonquin Road and New Wilke Road (eastbound).

The current agreement was due to expire in January.
