Join sailors for Christmas celebration

Join Christian Liberty Academy and the Village of Arlington Heights for a very special Christmas.

On Christmas morning, Christian Liberty Academy, Arlington Heights, will host 35 sailors from Naval Station Great Lakes. This will be the eighth year of hosting sailors on Christmas Day.

These sailors cannot go home for Christmas, so Christian Liberty Academy and the Village of Arlington Heights will do their very best to give them a Christmas almost as good as home. This includes a full dinner, unlimited treats, free phone calls home and video games and TV, which are not allowed on base.

A big part of this effort comes from the hundreds of people who volunteer on Christmas morning to offer a warm welcome to these young men and women with a flag line along Ridge Avenue. All are welcome to greet the sailors when they arrive.

If you would like to join these volunteers, arrive by 9 a.m. at Christian Liberty Academy, 502 W. Euclid Ave., Arlington Heights. Enter at the Main Gym entrance or Walnut Street door to the Grace Gym.

Twenty to 30 volunteers are needed for the flag line along Ridge (dress warm), and other volunteers are needed to form a welcome line in Grace Gym.

The dinner for the sailors is also open to the public. Dinner is served at noon. RSVP is required by contacting Bob Stack at stackrb@aol.com or (847) 567-4318.
