GOP will accept any means to political ends
I understand there are Americans who want abortion banned, even in the case of incest, rape and danger to the life of the woman and there are Americans who think that undocumented persons in the U.S. should all be removed and a wall built around our country and there are Americans who think the soaring national debt is a problem only when there is a Democratic president and there are Americans who feel that corporate profits are more important than protecting our environment and paying a living wage and there are Americans who think that children do not deserve adequate housing and nutrition unless their families can pay for it themselves and there are Americans who think the Founding Fathers intended the Second Amendment to apply to assault weapons that fire 500 rounds a minute. And fortunately in America they are entitled to their opinions.
But no matter how strongly one supports a position, the means to get to that end must be justified. What we now have is a Republican Party that feels that any means to get to those ends are justified, including continuing to support a president who attempted to bribe a foreign official for his personal benefit, obstructed justice by forbidding his staff to respond to a legally issued subpoena, lies repeatedly to the American people, ignores the Constitution by continuing to personally profit from his position, and subverts the rule of law.
The supporters of Donald Trump should admit that there are many others far better suited to help accomplish their goals, including Vice President Mike Pence, and that the damage he is inflicting on this country is not worth the price we are all paying. Trump must be impeached if our Constitution is to continue to form the guiding principles of this country.
