St. Charles Electric Christmas Parade winners announced

St. Charles Holiday Homecoming took place Friday and Saturday, Nov. 29-30, in downtown St. Charles.

The two-day event featured the Lighting of the Lights ceremony, horse-drawn trolley rides, visits with Santa, a free holiday movie, live holiday window displays and the Electric Christmas Parade, which recognized former St. Charles Fire Chief Joe Schelstreet as the grand marshal.

This year saw a record attendance during the Lighting of the Lights ceremony, which saw over 1,500 people drawn to First Street Plaza.

Saturday saw great attendance as well with the Saturday events presented by the St. Charles Business Alliance and their sponsors.

The day culminated with the Electric Christmas Parade where locals and visitors alike crowded along Main Street to witness 56 holiday-themed entries dazzle and gleam on the parade route.

Entries were judged by a panel of judges, who selected winners in three categories: business, nonprofit and children, with an overall winner.

The 2019 Electric Christmas Parade winners are as follows:

• Best of Show: Skyline Tree Service

• Children's Showcase: first place - St. Charles Swim Team; second place - Marquee Youth Stage; and third place - Elite Academy of Dance;

• Nonprofit Showcase: first place - Lazarus House; second place - Salvation Army; and third place - Fox Valley Region - Model A Restorers Club.

• Business Showcase: first place - Midwest Compost; second place - Doc's HVAC; and third place - Garage 31.

The event is organized by the St. Charles Business Alliance, and made possible by sponsorship support, including this year's Presenting Sponsor, Fox Valley Auto Group.
