Prospect Heights names its 2019 Officer of the Year
Prospect Heights police Officer Pardeep Deol was named the city's 2019 Officer of the Year during a ceremony this week attended by police and city leaders.
A sworn officer since 2017, Deol was chosen for his dedication to several duties and tasks he takes on inside and outside the department. He serves as a coordinator for the Youth Outreach Program, Internship Program, Volunteer Program, the Prospect Heights Citizens Police Academy, the Crime Prevention Unit, and as the Emergency Management Coordinator for the city. He also has assisted the command staff and the dispatch center with several new projects.
When he is not serving in those roles, he volunteers at several community events and is working to complete the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Master Program.
"Officer Deol is a hard worker who continues to be involved in every community outreach program of the department, which demonstrates a strong commitment to the community," Deputy Chief Mark Porlier said. "Officer Deol is held in high regard and does a great job taking on a long list of different tasks."
Deol's service to the city dates back to 2008, when he served on a peer jury and later earned an internship with the police department. In 2012, he was hired full-time and served in several roles, including community liaison officer and records clerk, until becoming a sworn officer in 2017.
