Fox Valley police reports 12/10

Kane County

• Eight backpack blowers, a total estimated value of $800, were stolen between 6 and 7 a.m. Nov. 28 from a trailer on the 1100 block of Fabyan Parkway near Geneva.

• Robert Gene Spriet, 48, of the 900 block of Fulton Street, South Elgin, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident at 9:23 p.m. Friday after rear-ending another vehicle near Stearns and Dunham roads near St. Charles, according to a sheriff's report.

• Teresa Hernandez, 50, of the 34W300 block of Courier Avenue, St. Charles, was arrested and charged with DUI, DUI with a blood-alcohol concentration of .08 or more and failure to reduce speed at 10:02 p.m. Friday after her vehicle crashed into a ditch near Route 25 and Courier Avenue near St. Charles, according to a sheriff's report. A chemical test showed her BAC to be .187, the report said.
