Two men die after shootout as one walked with toddler

Two men shot and killed each other Monday morning after one of them ambushed the other while he was with his 18-month-old son in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the South Side.

Alton D. Ellis, 31, was with his toddler about 8:40 a.m. on the 6200 block of South Mozart Street when another man approached him on foot and fired shots, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner's office said.
