Time To Go Local
Lindenhurst has always been known for having small businesses come in and out of the Linden Plaza and other areas around the community. From thrift shops, to ice cream places, pizza shops, 7/11 and movie rentals, Lindenhurst can't hold on too long to our beloved businesses. Small Businesses account for 64% of the United States Domestic Product and 78% of all new job creation in the United States. Therefore if small business hold such high number in our economy, why are we not supporting our community's business? One common trend: High Pricing. Manufacturers have a hard time investing in smaller businesses due to the stereotype of them being "shaky start ups" and that they won't last long. This leads to smaller businesses to head towards more expensive manufacturers. The domino effect leads the businesses to have to raise the prices of their products and ask more of their customers. And the next domino to fall is that the customers don't want to pay more for the exact same food and service that they can get at a much cheaper price right down the street with all the fast food chains in the area. Watching all the businesses go in and out gives our community and the neighboring towns a negative sense of culture as we are seen as just a drive through town to get to the businesses in Round Lake and Gurnee. It is time to start building up Lindenhurst. Spend the extra dollars to support the Lindenhurst families and help move forward to improve the culture and feeling of your community. Take action and pride in where you live.
