Donate a gift for Movie with the Mayor Dec. 14
CMX Cinemas, the neighborhood classic movie theater, is inviting families to enjoy a free movie with Arlington Heights Mayor Tom Hayes.
The free, charitable "Movie with the Mayor" event will take place at the CMX Cinemas Arlington Heights movie theater, 53 S. Evergreen, Saturday, Dec. 14, kicking off with holiday festivities at 8 a.m., which includes a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Two holiday themed movies - "Elf" (Rated PG) and "The Polar Express" (Rated G) - will start at 9 a.m., and all guests with a nonperishable food donation will receive free admission. Cub Scouts from Pack 129 will be on hand to collect the donations, which will benefit the Wheeling Township Food Pantry.
In addition, CMX Cinemas Arlington Heights is offering a free, large popcorn for each new, unwrapped toy donation to support Toys for Tots (please, no stuffed animals). The Northwest Suburban Marine Corps League will be on hand to collect those donations. Rolling Meadows Madrigal Singers will perform holiday songs prior to the movies.
"We are excited to, once again, be able to take part in this community event that has a long tradition in the Arlington Heights area. In the past years, it's been a great success and we have been looking forward to this year's event ever since," said Vincent Scardina, general manager of the theater.
"We feel that it is very important to have an opportunity during this time of year for all members of our community to gather together in one place and celebrate the season with an entertainment experience that is second to none, and we are proud to be able to be part of that experience once again."
CMX Cinemas in Arlington Heights recently underwent a remodeling, which introduced a fresh-looking lobby with added lighting and digital kiosks, new front entrance and doors, sleek bar design, updated concession area, freshly installed 100-inch video wall, replaced interior carpet and venue-wide digital screens.
Additionally, the movie theater currently features promotions such as $6 Terrific Tuesdays and CMX Classics. Upcoming holiday blockbuster movies include "Jumanji" and "Star Wars."
