McDonald's near Elk Grove Village robbed, authorities say

A man robbed a McDonald's Saturday afternoon in unincorporated Elk Grove Village Township, Cook County sheriff's officials said.

The man walked into the McDonald's at 1912 E. Higgins Road and began taking cash from a cash register, authorities said.

An employee confronted the man, and the offender said he had a gun but didn't show a weapon, authorities said.

He ran away from the restaurant and left in a silver SUV - possibly a Honda - authorities said.

The offender is described as white and between 6-foot and 6-foot-4. He was wearing a White Sox hat and jacket, a dark hoodie, dark sweatpants with white stripes, and white athletic shoes, officials said.

Officials are investigating.
