CLC student writers win big in fall competitions

College of Lake County students won big at writing competitions this fall, the school announced Wednesday.

"Prairie Voices," CLC's literary arts publication, won second place at the Community College Humanities Association Annual Literary Magazine Contest in October.

Three students took home awards, including a first-place finish, at the 2019 Illinois Skyway Conference Writers' Competition and Festival in November. Lily Pinkowski of Grayslake won the drama category, Casper Badovinac of Hainesville took second place in poetry, and Tomoko Funahashi of Mundelein won second place in fiction.

"Prairie Voices" was produced this year by 27 student writers and artists who contributed poetry, prose and artwork. It is the fourth consecutive year the publication has placed in the competition.
