Winthrop Harbor crash victims identified
Lake County authorities have identified the two men killed in a one-vehicle crash early Saturday in Winthrop Harbor.
Clifton Johnson, 26, and Shawn Smith, 26, both of Waukegan, died from injuries suffered when a vehicle driven by Johnson crashed into a tree along Lewis Avenue near 12th Street, according to the Lake County coroner's office.
Toxicology results for both men are pending, officials said Tuesday.
An investigation into the crash by the coroner's office, Winthrop Harbor Police Department and Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team remains ongoing.
