Power outages in Mundelein area cause early school dismissals
Diamond Lake District 76 schools were dismissed early after a power outage in the Mundelein area Monday, officials said.
Nearly 2,000 people lost service Monday, with about 900 in the Diamond Lake area who still didn't have power as of about 5:45 Monday evening, according to Paul Elsberg, the director of communications for ComEd.
Crews are working in the area to restore power by 7:15 p.m., Elsberg said.
Elsberg said power lines went down, but what caused that is unknown and under investigation.
