Annual meeting of Pakistani-Descent Physicians Society deemed a success
The annual meeting of the Pakistan Physician Society (PPS) for 2019 was held on Saturday, Nov. 23, at the grand ballroom of Embassy Suites Naperville, IL. The Pakistan Physicians Society (PPS) of Illinois is a part and local chapter of the Association of Pakistani Physicians of North America (APPNA).
The master of ceremony was Dr. Samina Hijab. The program began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur'an talented Student of local college Umar Nisar. The proceedings began with national anthems (American and Pakistan) Ms. Ania Shahid sang the national anthem of the USA. Pakistani anthem was played on piano by 11-year by Hamza Mehmood.
This sold-out event was a hit with more than 400 attendees. The attendance was so large and impressive. The official business meeting started with the presentation of reports by the treasurer and the secretary. The theme of the PPS Annual Meeting was Mera Rangla Punjab. The Chief guest was the Secretary of State Mr. Jesse White. Consulate General Pakistan Chicago Mr. Javed Umrani and Dr. Naseem Shekhani President APPNA was attending the event.
The evening included a social hour, dinner, and a brief meeting with reports from past and current activities.
Welcome and opening remarks were conducted by Dr. Amin Nadeem. It was followed by Dr. Samina Hijab who introduced the 2019 PPS executive body to the attendees as a Chair of the Event.
The Pakistan Physician Society is the well-known organizations of Pakistani Physicians in Illinois have no political affiliation or connection with any political party or agenda in Pakistan and USA. This organization that is totally non-profit and is working toward the promotion of social, cultural, educational and humanitarian goals. Led by the Board of Trustees, the office bearers of the Executive Council and our volunteer leadership.
Dr. Amera Rahman current president of PPS made her speech and highlighted the achievements of PPS for the year 2019. Dr. Javed Bangash, Dr. Khalid Riaz and Jesse White also address on the event. The keynote speaker was Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White including others received awards. The awards recognize who has made great notable contributions to the Chicagoland also community provides the highest quality of services and innovative programs for PPS.
Other speakers included President Elect for 2020 Dr. Amin Nadeem, President APPNA-Dr Naseem Shekhani, Elected Secretary APPNA 2020-Dr Haroon Durran, Prominent Pakistani Physicians from Chicago area like Dr Teepu Siddique Dr. Rahat Sheikh, Dr. Asif Syed, Dr. Sameer Shaf, Dr. Naveed Anwar, Dr. Nureain Mirza, Dr. Waseem Kagzi and others.
Lifetime achievement and humanitarian award were presented to several doctors and Physician. Who had proven in his field and achieved goal in humanity also participate in medical relief and other charitable activities in Pakistan. PPS donates a large amount of fund to The Human Development Foundation to promote and continue support of health, education, and welfare in Pakistan and Thar water Project. Dr. Naheed M Qayyum, chairperson of HDF received the check.
A scrumptious dinner and an elaborate dessert were served to all. Musical Entertainment was performed famous Shazia Manzoor.
