Join First Presbyterian Church for annual 'Messiah' singalong
Handel's "Messiah" will be brought to life by the Northwest Symphony Orchestra as part of Arlington Heights Presbyterian Church's Free Concert Series at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1, in the church's sanctuary.
Members of the community are invited not only to attend, but to raise their voices together, in this one-of-a-kind singalong concert. At 4 p.m. the audience will warm up their voices with the symphony and soloists, then will commence the epic journey through the Messiah together, singing Part I and the Hallelujah Chorus from Part II. Music will be provided, if needed.
Handel's Messiah is revered as one of the most beloved holiday classics of all time. Divided into three parts, the oratorio is a commentary and celebration of the nativity, passion, resurrection and ascension of Jesus.
Handel himself remarked that as he wrote the Hallelujah Chorus: "I did think I did see all Heaven before me and the great God Himself."
The Northwest Symphony Orchestra is conducted by Tim Semanik and this concert will feature soloists Megan Hendrickson (soprano), Kristen Walter (alto), Nick Pulikowski (tenor), Adam Hendrickson (baritone) and Dan Richardson (bass).
Founded by Perry Crafton in 1951, the Northwest Symphony Orchestra performs a variety of music from the classical maestros like Rachmaninoff and Beethoven, to modern masters like Aaron Copland and John Williams, and some of the world's most beloved operas. Semanik, recently appointed music director, is the fourth conductor to lead the ensemble, now in it's 68th Season.
First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights is at 302 N. Dunton Ave., Arlington Heights. For more information regarding this special concert, please visit: http://firstpresah.org/events/<https://protect-us.mimecast.com/s/Bip1Cxkj0NU1pRVjhg1J0L?domain=firstpresah.org.
