Sidewalk safety

I am a senior citizen who stays fit and minimizes illnesses in part by walking every day, barring blizzards and such. Since our recent snow, I had to do this despite the fact that several homeowners decided not to clear their walks. Worse than the snow, ice on the sidewalk from the overnight hard freezes often makes things treacherous. I know I'm not alone, because I see other seniors trying to maintain their active lives through walking. Before deciding not to clear walks or melt the ice, homeowners should consider how we walking seniors are not only helping ourselves but avoiding the high health care costs that plague our country.
