Kilmer Chorus Entertains During Third Annual McTeacher's Night

Wheeling| Kilmer Elementary School students gave teachers and administrators an A-plus on their fundraising efforts.

Principal Matthew Lombardo, teachers, and support staff from Kilmer Elementary School volunteered behind the counter on Wednesday, November 20th at the Wheeling McDonald's located on Lake Cook Road, where they served students and their families in their annual fundraiser.

Teachers Colleen Conley, Renata Jaimes, Pat Piotrowski, and Julia Umilina shared the duty of wearing an apple pie costume encouraging students to purchase a delicious apple pie. Meanwhile, other teachers tended the front counter, served ice cream treats and presented delicious food at the drive-thru.

The proceeds from the 151 apple pies sold will help support the Kilmer PTO. Twenty percent of the proceeds from the McTeacher's Night sales were donated directly to the Kilmer PTO.

A bonus during the fundraising event was when the Kilmer 5th-Grade Chorus performed. The 5th-grade students were lead by music teacher Rachel Scherer. The students performed "I Got Rhythm" and "Sweet Home Chicago". The highlight was when the chorus encouraged the audience to sing along to "Sweet Home Chicago".

"Kilmer held their 3rd annual McTeacher's Night in Wheeling organized by our wonderful PTO! We had amazing support and participation from our families and staff! Thank you Bear Family for providing a place to celebrate our Kilmer community." said Tracy Snelson, PTO liaison and second-grade teacher.

David Bear, Owner/Operator of the Wheeling McDonald's and the Bear Family were delighted to participate in the worthy cause for education and community.
