Palatine man sentenced for 2018 Elk Grove motel robbery

A Palatine parolee was sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to robbing a man at an Elk Grove Village motel. In exchange for his plea, Jamarrion King, 23, was sentenced to 10 years in prison, court records show.

Prosecutors say the male victim made arrangements through a website for a sexual encounter at a motel in the 1000 block of West Devon Avenue on Aug. 20, 2018. After receiving a text message with a room number, he proceeded to the room, where he encountered King's co-defendant Kyla Hunter, 20, prosecutors said during King's bond hearing last year. Hunter left the room and King - who was on parole for a 2014 armed robbery in DuPage County at the time - entered, prosecutors said. They say he threatened the victim and demanded his cellphones and money.

Hunter pleaded guilty to robbery earlier this year in exchange for two years of probation and 100 hours of community service, according to court records.

King received credit for 457 days in custody.
