Plea deal coming for former Mundelein trustee facing burglary charge?

There could be a plea deal coming for former Mundelein village trustee Dakotah Norton, who previously pleaded not guilty to residential burglary and misdemeanor battery charges.

Norton's lawyer, Daniel Hodgkinson, told Lake County Judge Patricia Fix Thursday morning that he is working with county prosecutors on a resolution in the case. Hodgkinson requested Norton's trial date be postponed so both sides have more time to reach an agreement.

Fix agreed to delay the trial to March. Norton is due back in court Jan. 16.

The charges against Norton, 29, allege he entered an ex-girlfriend's Mundelein home without permission on Aug. 5 and took undisclosed items. Police say Norton also pushed a child who confronted him in the home.
