Spirit of Life Chorus celebrating 30 years with Nov. 24 concert in Elgin

"Lifting Up the Lord, Celebrating 30 Years of Spirit!" is the theme of the Spirit of Life Chorus fall concert series.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Elgin is hosting the 60-voice ecumenical choir on Christ the King Sunday Nov. 24.

The concert will be held at 4:30 p.m. in the Worship Center at the Nesler Road campus.

The choir is directed by Marc Stiehr.

"This is Spirit's fourth visit to Good Shepherd in five years, we are truly blessed to have them back. The choir is upbeat and engaging, and they enjoy what they do, giving praise to the Lord," said Gary Lichthardt, Music and Worship Arts Director.

The style of music they do is "Gaitheresque", and that covers a wide range of styles.

Spirit of Life will perform a combination of praise music and Christmas music. They bring their own live band with them too.

Many talented people make it happen each weekend, October through December. A huge commitment, but something members love to do.

Their concert circuit is in eight locations over a nine-week period.

Doors open at 4 p.m. There is no admission free, but a free-will offering will be taken. The pre-concert music starts at 4:10 p.m.
