Geneva Park District board members honored by Illinois Association of Park Districts for years of service
Members of the Geneva Park District Board of Commissioners, including current commissioners Susan VanderVeen, John Frankenthal, and Pat Lenski, and past commissioner Peggy Condon (1999-2019) received service awards at the annual Illinois Association of Park Districts "Best of the Best" gala on Friday, Nov. 1, at the Chevy Chase Country Club in Wheeling.
The Geneva Park District nominated the four commissioners based on their years of service to the park district and to the community.
"All combined, they have volunteered over 60 years of dedicated service to the Geneva Park District. They have been steadfast in their support of parks, recreation, open space and conservation. It is my good fortune to work with such dedicated community leaders," said Sheavoun Lambillotte, executive director of the Geneva Park District.
Peggy Condon and Susan VanderVeen received the 20-year board member service anniversary award, and John Frankenthal and Pat Lenski received the 10-year board member service anniversary award.
"Geneva is such a special place to live. It has been my pleasure to serve on the Geneva Park Board for 20 years. It is an honor to be a part of the Geneva Park District's effort to provide healthy and fun recreation to all Geneva's residents," said Susan VanderVeen, board president.
The Geneva Park District Board is comprised of five nonpaid commissioners elected by Geneva Park District citizens to serve six-year terms.
The mission of the Geneva Park District is to provide recreational programs, facilities, and open space that will enhance the quality of life for residents of all age groups and abilities. For more information on the Geneva Park District, visit genevaparks.org
